If you only experience clogged drains every once in a while, you may be able to come up with a solution on your own. Try treating the drain with a declogging solution available at your local grocery or home improvement store. Or you can create your own vinegar based solution to help break apart the clog and flush it out.
Once you’ve let the solution sit in the drain for a while, you can try plunging open the clog. You can also work on the clog with a drain snake or a hanger. You may have to repeat the procedure until the clog has been removed.
If you’re experiencing repeated clogs or stubborn clogs that aren’t easily resolved, give a professional plumber a call. Your clogged drain and sewer lines may be clogged in other places that you can’t see that are causing excessive backups.
